'FOK' in The Visual Artists' News Sheet

Updated: Nov 12, 2021

From the 15th to the 28th of October 2021, ‘Feeling of Knowing’, an exhibition of newly commissioned site-specific work by Aleana Egan, Áine McBride, Dennis McNulty and Conor O’Sullivan was presented in The Ground Floor Gallery at The Complex.

While each artist’s work remained specific to their own practices and perspectives, they came together in this exhibition to experiment with the notion of FOKs, creating a visual exploratory essay which the viewers own metamemory aided in reading.

A considered response to ‘FOK’ by John Graham was featured in the latest addition of The Visual Artists News Sheet (VAN). In his review, Graham observed that being drawn into the exhibition dialogue was “an inevitable consequence of visiting the show” and noted curators Mark O’Gorman and Paul McGrane’s “talent for fostering connections”.

We’d like to thank John for taking the time to reflect on ‘FOK’, and to and Joanne Laws of VAI for publishing the piece in the Nov/Dec issue of the publication.

The news sheet can be picked up in galleries and arts centres free of charge and will be archived on the VAN website in the coming weeks.
