'Vae Victis' Opens this Friday

The Complex invites you to Rónán Ó Raghallaigh's exhibition of new works. On Friday the 3rd of September, ‘Vae Victis’ will preview from 6-8PM in The Ground Floor Gallery.


‘Vae Victis’ is a series of paintings created by Rónán which, in his own words “were begun in 2019 after spendin a year on de colonised land o Tkaronto. Dey take as deir subject matter de suppression o de Celtic by de Roman Empire, de Christian Church and de British Empire. Dey are part of a larger cultural rebellion, me own 21st Century Celtic Revival, an attempt to decolonise de psyche somehow 100 years after de Irish Republic was formed."

Rónán is an artist from Kildare. He graduated from NCAD this year with an MFA in Art in the Contemporary World. Last Bealtaine he was re-baptised by his family with the Irish version of his name and declared himself a druid.


‘Vae Victis’ continues until the 9th of September and will open from 10AM-5PM on weekdays, 12–5PM on Saturday & Sunday. Booking is not necessary, a maximum of 6 people will be allowed into the gallery at a time, and masks are essential.
