The Dublin International Comedy Film Festival AKA Ireland's funniest festival, is taking over The Complex!
Taking up residence across five carefully selected venues in Dublin: The Lighthouse Cinema, The IFI, The Hendrick Hotel Smithfield, Tailor's Hall and, of course, The Complex, the festival will run from 27 to 30 of November.
Offering an exciting programme jam-packed with over 60 film screenings, industry Q&As, stand-up events and more, it's set to be an incredible weekend of levity brightening up wintertime in Dublin city.
Comedy acts will include legends Bernard O'Shea, Kevin McGahern, and Joe Rooney who will also judge the inaugural DICFF Stand-Up Competition finals which will be held in the atmospheric surroundings of The Depot.
The festival is the brainchild of filmmaker and actor Maureen, or ‘Mo’ O’Connell, an award-winning actor, writer, director, and producer. Mo is a co-producer on soon-to-be released drama-comedy feature, “Horseshoe”.
Mo set up the Dublin International Comedy Film Festival in 2020 in response to the pandemic. It went online and was a rip-roaring success with online comedy acts including Killian Sundermann and Michael Fry and over 60 comedy films to choose from, and it was all for only €5!
Mo wanted to keep the price cheap as she wanted the festival to be a breath of fresh air and to provide a light relief for everyone struggling through lockdown. Since then, the festival has gone from strength to strength, and this year they celebrate their 5th year in operation!
