Culture Night at The Complex
Culture Night 2020 was like none that had ever been seen before. With the government announcement of further restrictions in Dublin due to COVID-19, The Complex was one of only a few venues open and all other events were online only. Studio artists graciously gave tours of their studios and the 'Ceremony' exhibition was launched.
Thank you to Ann Ensor and Austin Hearne for their work on the wonderful 'Ceremony' exhibition which opened on Culture Night in The Complex. Sadly due to Friday's government announcement the gallery was closed the following day.
'Ceremony' is a duo installation presented by The Complex, showcasing the works of two artists scheduled to exhibit in The Complex Visual Arts Programme 2021, Ann Ensor and Austin Hearne. Read more on the exhibition here.

Artist Ronan O'Reilly (photographed above) showed us his studio and talked about his painting practice. Dublin Digital Radio invited guests to view their sound-proofed broadcasting studio, while Monica Ennis gave us an insight to the world of costume design. The newly formed Saga Studio opened their photography studio, introduced us to studio dog Ziggy and offered free portraits to visitors.

The Main Space of The Complex also featured on the tour, show-casing '2km x 1 Minute', a series of videos commissioned by The Complex during the two kilometre restriction at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. Sponsored by Jameson Distillery, 9 artists were commissioned to make a 1 minute video within their 2 kilometre radius. Artworks are available to view on The Complex's website here or on Instagram TV @complexdublin.
