Since launching in 2024, The Depot Sessions at The Complex have built a reputation for immersive live music experiences, pairing a raw industrial setting with carefully curated line-ups of emerging and established Irish artists. The format has been consistent: headline acts supported by one or two openers, all brought together under a striking audiovisual setup. But on November 21st, that format is changing.
For the first time, The Depot Sessions will be handed over in full to a single collective. Kirkos, one of The Complex’s newest studio members, will take complete creative control of the evening, not just curating the performances, but transforming the very structure of the event.
This is not a traditional concert.
Kirkos brings a practice rooted in experimentation, drawing from traditions such as John Cage’s “Happenings” and the Fluxus movement of the 1960s. These were radical moments in art history that broke down boundaries, not only between art forms, but between artists and audiences. They emphasised spontaneity, collaboration and a total reimagining of space and time. The performance was not the object; it was the moment.
In that spirit, Kirkos will treat The Depot not as a conventional stage but as an open and shifting environment. Sound, performance, and visual installation will unfold around the audience in nonlinear ways. Viewers become participants; beginnings and endings dissolve. The event becomes something to experience rather than observe.
Open Call
As part of this, Kirkos has issued an open call for participants. Artists of all backgrounds, musicians, performers, and live art practitioners, are invited to share their work on the night. This could be a historical Fluxus performance, a new experimental sound piece, a live reading, a score-based performance, or something else entirely. First-timers are welcome.
Space is limited, and proposals should be submitted in advance.
This is an evening for those curious about where music meets performance, where history meets the present, and where the audience is no longer separate from the work. For those who have followed The Depot Sessions from the beginning, it offers a new direction. For those unfamiliar, it may offer something entirely unexpected.
