Sasha Berliner is a vibraphonist, composer, producer, and bandleader originally from San Francisco, CA. Starting out as a rock drummer, she discovered the vibraphone during her time at Oakland School for the Arts, a turning point that reshaped her musical direction. In 2016, she moved to New York City to study at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, where she trained under renowned vibraphonist Stefon Harris. His mentorship, particularly in harmonic development, played a key role in shaping Sasha’s distinctive sound.
For her debut appearance at The Cooler, we’re kicking things off with a live podcast recording in collaboration with Irish Women in Jazz, hosted by Jeni McMahon. Join us for a conversation exploring Sasha’s creative process and life as a working musician in New York.
After the talk, Sasha will take the stage for a solo performance of original compositions and arrangements a rare and intimate set for solo vibraphone in the serene space of The Cooler.
