Dublin International Film Festival returns in 2024 with a diverse line up of films, events and industry panels.

As official partners this year The Complex will be hosting a series of special events aimed at people within the industry as well as film fans and enthusiasts. Some highlights include:

MASTERCLASS WITH KEVIN MACDONALD

Scottish film director Kevin Macdonald known for his films Touching the Void (2003), The Last King of Scotland (2006), and the Whitney Houston documentary Whitney (2018) will give a masterclass on the art directing and story telling.

 Tanqueray 0.0% Film Club – In Conversation With Trudie Styler

 Tanqueray 0.0% Film Club event will host a special discussion featuring  Trudie Styler an award-winning producer and director who worked with Guy Richie on Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrells (1998) and Snatch (2000). She also set up the production company Maven Screen Media which has produced the hit films Filth (2013) and American Honey (2016).

INTERNATIONAL FILM PROGRAMMERS PANEL 1

A panel discussion and talk on best practices for getting your film seen on an global stage. How to prepare submissions, important deadlines to remember, and criteria to watch out for.

Speakers include:

Ione Hernández – Selection Committee, San Sebastian Film Festival (Spain) and Ania Trzebiatowska – Sundance Film Festival (United States).

African Season: Crafting Authentic Narratives

Bringing together accomplished and emerging film makers from across Africa, including those whose work has been acclaimed at Cannes and other festivals

This engaging panel will explore the challenges of bringing a diverse range of voices and stories to an international audience. Overcoming language and different customs to tell universal stories.

Oge Obasi, producer of Mami Wata

Ramata-Toulaye Sy, writer & director of Banel & Adama

Ireland-France Co-Production Day

This all-day event will showcase the collaborative efforts between the two European nations. Panel discussions will be followed by one-on-one sessions aimed at fostering new connections between producers and filmmakers.

Co-Production Day is supported by CNC, the French Embassy in Dublin, and Screen Ireland.
