COMPLEX YOUTH THEATRE
Complex Youth Theatre works with young people in all arts disciplines to create new and original theatre. It provides a wide range of structures that encourage the personal and professional growth of its members through emancipatory workshops, development of the imagination and creative writing, with the emphasis on individual creativity and freedom of expression through performance. It aims to promote excellence in theatre practice and deliver a high quality process and outcomes. It offers an open selection process and is an equal opportunities employer.
CYT have remained active during lockdown and continue to meet remotely every Sunday! During these sessions we have fun, learn about theatre and work on ‘It Hasn’t Gone Away You Know…’.
CYT have launched 2021 with an ongoing series of online videos, placing young voices at the centre of the discourse on the world around us. Each original instalment of ‘It Hasn’t Gone Away You Know’ is developed and produced by CYT members remotely, under the guidance of the leaders. Episodes are currently being released regularly on CYT’s social media and YouTube channel. This follows their highly successful #YoungVoices series last year, which was a creative and personal response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A group of young housing activists take over the house of ‘The Dead’, where John Houston filmed the iconic film, based on James Joyce’s short story. Their mission is to highlight the growing housing crisis in Dublin and its detrimental effects.
