In association with Blanchardstown Traveller Development Group, The Complex filmed an event celebrating Local Traveller Pride Week 2021.
Shot in The Ground Floor Gallery, the event included a panel discussion, chaired by Vanessa Fielding, Artistic Director of The Complex.
The conversation heard insights from Catherine Joyce, Helen Hutchinson, and Michael Collins.
Catherine Joyce has been a member of the Irish Traveller Movement for over 25 years. In 1991, she won Person of The Year for her contribution to the progression of Traveller rights. Catherine is currently the joint manager of Blanchardstown Traveller Development Group, an organisation that works to promote the welfare of members of the Travelling community.
Helen Hutchinson is a poet whose work contemplates issues facing Travellers in contemporary society such as social isolation, bullying, and increased risk of suicide.
Michael Collins is a Writer, Actor, and recipient of the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Honor at The Traveller Pride Awards. Michael has starred in Glenroe, Man About Dog, and Pavee Lackeen.
The panel discussion explores the most pressing issues facing the Travelling Community in 2021.
